Graciousness. So hard yea?
Hi all! Haven't updated the blog in awhile.
And so i was reading through some papers just now and i saw something quite funny which i thought i should share with you guys.
We've always been talking about living in a gracious society. However, ;ooking at singapore, it seems like we are still some distance away from our goal of becoming a gracious society.
Look at the way people rush onto the trains before even letting the passengers alight. I remember when we were in Boon Lay, even christians weren't gracious enough when queueing for the shuttle buses home. Once the bus opens its doors, man or woman, young or old, big or fat, tall or short, everyone just rushes onto the bus as if end time's gonna come. Rushing onto the buses without having a concern as to whether they are actually pushing or shoving their elbows or armpits into others. And so...i gave up on shuttle buses and learnt to enjoy my rides home with the mrt instead.
And so...the passage goes:
"It is, in many parts of the country a shorts and slippers society where it's ok to hike one foot up a stool in public, fondle your feet, peel the calloused skin off your toes and use those same fingers to handle your kaya toast."
Words from sum*iko tan. Hilarious indeed.
Think about it guys(and girls of course).....how gracious are you?
