So, i was doing some backup for my computer today. Been hearing horror stories of people's comps crashing, so i decided to play safe :) Anyways, i was just looking through the files in my laptop and i came across some old msn chatlogs which i didn't even know my computer saved. Hilarious.
Came across a conversation i had with Jing when i was still in US back in May 2005. Remember the days when Jing was our CGL? Haha..let's relive it!

Solid Stone Or Sinking Sand
Luke 6:47-49 - "I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock....But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation..." ==================================================
Setting The Stage:
In 1174 the Italian architect Bonnano Pisano began work on what would become his most famous project: A separately standing eight-story bell tower for the Cathedral of the city of Pisa. The tower was to be eight stories and 185 feet tall. There was just one "little" problem: the builders quickly discovered that the soil was much softer than they had anticipated, and the foundation was far to shallow to adequately hold the structure!

Sure enough, before long the whole structure had begun to tilt...and it continued to tilt...until finally the architect and the builders realized that nothing could be done to make the Leaning Tower of Pisa straight again.
It took 176 years to build the Tower of Pisa and during that time many things were done to try and compensate for the "tilt." The foundation was shored up; the upper levels were even built at an angle to try to make the top of the tower look straight. Nothing worked. The tower has stood for over 800 years, but it leans 18 feet away from where it should be. One day, experts say, it will fall all because it wasn’t build on the right foundation.
==================================================
If we go to Luke 6:46 (NKJV), Jesus say: "But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?" After saying that, then Jesus goes into the illustration of comparing the two foundations upon which faith can stand or sink.
Scriptures to ponder:
"Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good..." (1 Peter 2:2).
"For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ." (1 Cor. 3:11).
Jesus said to them, " Have you never read in the Scriptures; The stone the builders reject has become the capstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes?" (Matt. 21:42).
"Built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone." (Eph.2:20).
"Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription; ’The Lord knows those who are his, and everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness." (2 Tim. 2:19).
Conclusion:
A foundation of faith that is built solely upon Christ as Savior will result in a faith that is prone to lean and ultimately fall. When considering the cost to build the house, that includes all the material needed for the foundation as well. If we seek only to drink in the blessings of grace, yet not receive Him as King and us as His bond-slaves, is to erect a relationship on sinking sand, that will be incapable of standing the torrent of Luke 6:49b, "...The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete."
If we read the text again, we will notice that there is a strong emphasis on obedience. This is what servants do in the Lord & Master’s house...they obey. How can that be done, if the Christ of God has not been presented and enthroned within the heart as Savior, Lord, Master and King! like the "contractor" who pulls his truck up to the construction site with everything needed to build. What’s in the truck? Well, there is law, grace, sin, faith, repentance, and Jesus as Lord and Savior. Now it remains for the potential convert to count the cost, and avail himself of everything needed to complete the building. If he doesn’t take everything, he just may be found leaning 18 feet in the wrong direction, having built his house on sinking sand rather than solid stone.
My dear N114ians, together let's take everything of ourselves to complete the building. Amen!
I truly believe everyone of us can make it in Christ through us.

Hua Dong First Wu Shu Match In Singapore

It was my first time with Jing watching a Wu Shu match. Interestingly, every match was very different as the contestant fight differently. Some this some that some mix and some really good ones. It was an eye opener for both me and Jing.Subscribe to Posts [Atom]
